Maxwell, the London Times correspondent in New Delhi at the time of the India-China war, himself wrote a most critical book, ‘India’s China War’, which exposed the thorough incompetence of the country’s political and military leadership, leading up to its worst- ever humiliation. I  was  in  my  early  thirties  then  and  was  in  the  heart  of  Capital  Delhi   in    Govt  Service Service( 19 56  on wards ) .
I  even   lived  through     that  slogans  of   'Hindi  - Chini    Bhai -bhai ' ( &   Chau en lai - visit )   and  through  and  beyond  1962   during  India  - China  War    and   Metamophosis  of   'Bhai  -  Bhai '  Slogan   into    or  a  new    tittle   for  China (  from   'Top  of  the  Roof  )    like    "Besharami  Dushmaan " or ' Shameless  Enemy ' (  as  if  it  was  essential  for  an  enemy  to  have  a  sense  of    Shame   while in  War ! ).

Any  way  , some  octogenarian  tall  politician of  to  day   of   any  or  either    big  parties   who  were  also  then  in    their  green  thirties   can    throw   brighter  or   even  ' flood-  light'   and    tell    more  about  in  great  details  of  that    INDO - WAR    and   ' Aftermath' .
